Who we are
We are a travel and motorcycle-loving couple from Austria with over 35 years of experience on two wheels. Since 2005, we have ridden approximately 12,000 kilometers a year together and, in addition to countless shorter trips, also spend our summer holidays in the saddle. On our longer motorcycle tours, we combine our passion for history, culture, people, good food, and motorcycling!
For us, this is our annual little getaway, where only the two of us matter, along with nice people and interesting experiences. And because experience has taught us that this isn't possible in a group, we travel exclusively as a couple. We understand each other perfectly (and with hand signals) and have the same needs. We don't like group trips.
We travel away from all the enjoyable and less enjoyable professional and family obligations for which we are available the remaining 340 days of the year. That is important to us!
Our travel philosophy: What is the country really like? What are the people like? Are they hospitable or do they dislike strangers? What are the accommodations like? What traditional dishes are there, and what do they taste like? Which clichés are true, or are they all just prejudices? What are the people interested in? Are politics and history topics of conversation? And finally, are there enough gas stations, and what is the landscape like? What are the motorcycle routes like? What is the infrastructure like? Will we be able to overcome the language barriers?
We write our tour reports like a personal diary. (Dietmar keeps this diary during the trip, jotting down our impressions in his blue notebook every evening – the basis for our reports.) We don't sugarcoat things when something goes wrong! Because sometimes reality is simply different than expected, and sometimes a plan doesn't work out.
